continuation from yesterday's discussion about Roger...
ReplyDeleteHe made two three setters and he just physically couldn't keep up in third against Basilashvili... he was hitting his shots but stamina was gone. I think that career is done. At most he can concentrate for a Wimbledon and then retire.
Think it's early, he clearly feels he needs to keep working hard after pulling out of Dubai... Think the clay court season will be a chance to build fitness, but Federer long stated his season 'starts' when the grass court season comes along in June.
DeleteHard to imagine him winning another Grand Slam, but wouldn't want to rule him out completely.
Definitely think we are in the final run of his career so we should enjoy his tennis while we all can
It's hard for me to imagine that this tennis era of Federer, Nadal, Djoko and Murray has opened the final chapter. I am 30, this was my whole tennis life :)
DeleteThis will be a difficult era to replace, but sport always finds a way to move on... Three of those could easily go down as the best three of all time, crazy good era
