Or how about just a couple of months ago when Turki Alalshikh said the exact same thing?
Yet here we are- there has already been one PPV card at the end of October with two more to follow in November.
People will try and dress it up differently by suggesting it is 'only' an add-on to an existing subscription, but you almost have to wonder what kind of cards will be left on the current sub if Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley is now considered an additional expense?
The main event was quality, but the undercard was borderline embarrassing and it really isn't that long enough that a fight like that might have been part of a normal sports subscription package.
Worst case was that the main event might have been a co-main with a better support all around and that could have justified the additional cost, but Boxing fans should not take anything seriously when the promoters and broadcast companies are talking about cutting costs for those who want to tune in. The reality is that they don't really care what fans think and Frank Warren's angry response to a journalist's question about the Parker-Wardley card underlines the point.
At least this weekend there are a couple of cards that are available for any subscriber to watch.
Both on Saturday night look decent with solid headliners, and it is the start of what looks to be a good month of Boxing for the fans to enjoy.
Big fights are set to go and that is going to shake up some of the Divisions, which is always welcome.
Joshua Buatsi vs Zach Parker
It is hard to imagine Joshua Buatsi caring about some of the criticism he has faced in the last three years of his career, but he will care about bouncing back from the first professional defeat he suffered earlier this year.
Credit has to be given to Buatsi for the resilience and determination he showed through some tough moments against Callum Smith, but the defeat has given his previous critics further ammunition.
Previously Joshua Buatsi had been accused of avoiding taking on the challenge of facing the likes of Dmitry Bivol- even former Promoter Eddie Hearn implied the fight had been there for Buatsi, but he didn't want it at the time it was offered.
There had also been a feeling that Buatsi had allowed himself to coast in his career.
However, wins over Dan Azeez and Willy Hutchinson prior to the defeat to Callum Smith are to be respected and Joshua Buatsi also holds a win over Craig Richards.
Zach Parker had a really big reputation before being forced to retire on his stool against John Ryder and he has moved up from Super Middleweight into the Light Heavyweight Division. He has been solid enough since entering the Division, but those who want to criticise Joshua Buatsi and his resume would have a lot of fun dissecting the Parker one.
He has had more fights than Buatsi, but there is not a lot on the record that leaps off the page.
While Joshua Buatsi has been taking on some of the better domestic Light Heavyweights and been on fringe World Title level, Zach Parker is stepping up from recent opponents to take this opportunity.
It is clear that Joshua Buatsi is the naturally bigger man and he can impose himself on Zach Parker- some have questioned the stamina, but Buatsi has found some late Stoppages and he can wear down Parker in this Ten Rounder and avoid needing the Judges to get back on track after that disappointing loss to Callum Smith.
There are a couple of Light Heavyweight bouts on the undercard where the winners could be moving up the Rankings and potentially getting ready to move into a position to fight in eliminators or better in 2026.
The World Titles are currently being held by some very strong fighters, while the winner of the main event could be the target for Bradley Rea, Lyndon Arthur, Liam Cameron and Troy Jones.
Bradley Rea and Lyndon Arthur are further ahead than Cameron and Jones.
And out of the two, Bradley Rea looks to be an improving fighter compared with Lyndon Arthur who has lost two of his last three bouts and even the victory was a tight Split Decision over the aforementioned Liam Cameron.
Speaking about Cameron, he is looking to bounce back from a blowout loss to Ben Whittaker and he is perhaps being underestimated in his bid to do that.
Over in Orlando, Jordan Thompson returns from a two year layoff to move up into the Heavyweight Division to take on highly rated prospect Lenier Pero.
At 32 years old, calling someone a prospect is perhaps a little silly.
But Lenier Pero is going into his thirteenth professional fight and he is perhaps not as active as he should be with this being the second fight in 2025.
The level of previous opponents has not exactly been that testing and it is a surprise he is so highly Ranked by the WBA (but then again it is the WBA).
This looks a chance to showcase some of the power against an opponent who will come forward to fight and Lenier Pero may be able to force his way past Jordan Thompson before the bell for the Sixth Round is needed.
A number of young fighters on the Matchroom books make up the undercard, but prices beyond the outright win-draw-win market are not available.
Pat Brown is building a strong reputation and is likely to win in the first half of his latest bout and both Nishant Dev and Omari Jones are also involved in showcase fights as they continue their own paths in the Boxing ranks.
