World Series of Darts Finals Day 4 Picks 2026 (Sunday 20th September)

The title will be handed out in Amsterdam on Sunday and that means the Quarter Finals are played in the Afternoon Session before the Semi Final and Final is played later in the day.

Eight players are still competing and all will believe they have what it takes to win this event and use the momentum to kick onto the big Ranking events coming up.

However, Luke Littler remains the player to beat after sneaking through the Second Round with a final Leg decider win over Nathan Aspinall.

Any selections from the Semi Final matches will be added to this thread.

Ross Smith-Josh Rock both over 4.5 180s: This looks a really good Quarter Final on the form shown over the last couple of days, although it is no surprise that Ross Smith has been placed as the favourite.

His form has been stronger for some time compared with Josh Rock, although the latter is a Premier League participant and looks to be peaking as we get into the final quarter of the season.

This should make for a very competitive contest and two big maximum hitters can both produce at least five each on the day.

All players will want to keep something in the tank for the remainder of the tournament to be completed later, but these two are capable of pushing one another and that could lead to a high quality match.

James Wade v Gerwyn Price: We all know how good Gerwyn Price is and the layers will never underestimate him, but it is James Wade who has gotten the better of the 2026 meetings.

A couple of those wins have been across a longer format and the Englishman looks a good underdog to back considering his recent form.

Gerwyn Price may feel he can outscore James Wade, but the latter sticks around and the superior finishing can see him swing this Quarter Final in his favour.

Nothing ever comes easy against either of these players, but Wade looks an underdog who can show his bite is just as effective as his bark.

Luke Littler to win & over 6.5 180s v Jonny Clayton: Scraping through the Second Round makes Luke Littler that much more dangerous as the World Series of Darts Finals wind down on Sunday.

Once again Littler has shown he can produce under intense pressure, while opponents have perhaps not had the belief they need in order to upset the World Number 1.

Jonny Clayton may have more than most having picked up wins over Luke Littler in the Premier League, but the more recent head to head has swung back in favour of the youngster.

It is incredibly difficult to beat Luke Littler over the longer formats and he can do enough to secure both parts of this double put together.

US Open Day 4 Tennis Picks 2026 (Wednesday 2nd September)

The First Round is officially completed at the US Open and the biggest storyline through the opening three days is the exit of Novak Djokovic.

Father Time is unbeaten, but you do have to wonder if Novak Djokovic is going to decide to end his season immediately and try and deal with the issue he has been speaking about for a few weeks. While he has not disclosed the exact nature of the issue, the fact it flares up with the heat and humidity does suggest a stint through Asia and then the indoor hard court tournaments in the lead up to the Tour Finals would make little sense for a player who is all about being in prime condition to take on the Grand Slams.

These issues have come up at a bad time with Jannik Sinner out of the tournament and Carlos Alcaraz having missed four months on the Tour before returning, but Novak Djokovic may yet feel there is one more Grand Slam in him if he can get back to close to full health. It has only been nine months since he led the Australian Open Final before running out of steam and the hope is that the former World Number 1 can find a way to come back strong in 2027.

Most of the other contenders have fought their way through the opening Round, although Alexander Zverev made very hard work of his victory over Lorenzo Sonego.

A Grand Slam is up for grabs as far as those involved in the Women's tournament are concerned, but there is also a very strong race for the World Number 1 spot when this event is wrapped up and the top names chasing that position are all safely through.

Things tend to get much tougher as we move through the Rounds, but we are still in a position where defeats for the top names would be in upset conditions.

Rain has been a disruptor through the opening few days in New York City and this tournament will play very differently if the heat picks up and that all has to be factored into the Tennis Picks, which have made a very good start to this event, but with so much more tennis yet to be played.

Day 4 is easily the busiest for the Tennis Picks so far at the final Grand Slam of the season and that can see the opening successes quickly erased, which means this is a time for focus.

Carlos Alcaraz - 6.5 games v Jaime Faria: Despite a wrist injury that has kept Carlos Alcaraz away from the Tour for four months, the defending US Open Champion's decision to play in New York City meant he was given a short price to win this title.

That was always going to be the case considering Carlos Alcaraz added the Australian Open to his hard court Grand Slam collection earlier this year, but there are going to be question marks around the Spaniard for as long as he is involved in this tournament.

A straight sets win over a dangerous opponent will have given Carlos Alcaraz some confidence, although he will privately be assessing the wrist and see how it responds in the time away from the court. It also should be noted that Carlos Alcaraz was not as convincing behind serve, although that may have something to do with not wanting to push the wrist too quickly, while it should be said that he was still a very solid winner on the day.

As with any Grand Slam, the level of opponent will get more difficult the deeper you move through the draw, but Jaime Faria may not be a big step up from Roman Safiullon if he is considered a step up at all.

The 23 year old has shown solid form on the hard courts, but Jaime Faria is just 1-2 when facing top 50 Ranked opponents on the surface in 2026.

He needed almost four hours to get through the First Round match after Jaime Faria was guilty of throwing away a two set lead before rallying in the decider, while he faced more Break Points than he created. The serve can be a big weapon when at his best, but Jaime Faria may find it difficult to win the rallies once they develop and that time spent on the court is not ideal ahead of a Second Round match against the defending Champion.

Carlos Alcaraz will be someone that all keep a close eye on considering the layoff, but this is perhaps a time when he can show his quality before tougher tests potentially await.

Tommy Paul - 6.5 games v Dino Prizmic: Any player who has reached as high as World Number 8 should be credited for the career that has been put together, but the one criticism you may have of Tommy Paul is that he has never quite been able to put a strong run on the board at the US Open.

The American has reached the Quarter Final at every Grand Slam other than the US Open and reached the Semi Final at the Australian Open and the hard courts used Down Under. A couple of Fourth Round runs is as good as it has gotten in New York City and time is now perhaps running out for Tommy Paul to go a little further.

With Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic already out of the tournament and Carlos Alcaraz returning after a long layoff, Tommy Paul may not get a better opportunity to reach the last eight at the US Open than this one in 2026.

He came through the opening Round in relatively cool fashion after winning three sets in a row in style and Tommy Paul is a significant favourite to get the better of Dino Prizmic, who needed virtually four hours to get through his opening match.

Dino Prizmic is a player with real potential, but he is still developing his game for the professional Tour and matches against top 50 Ranked opponents on the hard courts have proven to be a little too much for him. He did take a set from Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open in 2024, but Dino Prizmic was beaten in straight sets by Andrey Rublev twelve months ago and the energy expended in the First Round is far from ideal.

The younger player does have a serve that can be effective on the hard courts, but his return is going to have to be better against someone like Tommy Paul who has held 91% of his service games played against those Ranked outside the top 50.

It is the returning side of the tennis where Tommy Paul looks like he can exert his experience on this match and the World Number 21 should be able to cover this handicap mark.

Stefanos Tsitsipas - 1.5 sets v Lloyd Harris: Any time a player earns an upset in a Grand Slam, the natural expectation is that they are going to struggle to deal with the new weight of expectation on their shoulders and to match the intensity that was needed to spring the upset.

In 2026, Stefanos Tsitsipas beating Arthur Fils is a big upset and especially on the hard courts and considering the kind of form that both players have shown over the last month.

Arthur Fils won the Cincinnati Masters and looked set for a deep run in New York City, but the young Frenchman has found the pressure of a Grand Slam too much to take.

It has opened the door for Stefanos Tsitsipas who has struggled for any kind of consistency through stops in Washington, Montreal, Cincinnati and Winston Salem and the former Australian Open Semi Finalist has never made much of an impact in New York City in his career. An upset has offered up a chance for Tsitsipas to have his best run at the US Open and you have to believe his experience means he can cope with the media interest in the said upset.

Next up is a match against Qualifier Lloyd Harris who is playing as the World Number 139 and who is currently moving through his latest rebuild on the Tour.

Three wins in Qualifying and a straight sets win in the First Round will have filled Lloyd Harris with confidence having won a Challenger title and reached the Semi Final at another in the build up to the US Open.

The only downside to any rebuild period is that Lloyd Harris has not really faced too many of the very top players on the Tour and he is just 1-2 in hard court matches against top 100 Ranked opponents this season. All three have been played in the lead up to the US Open and you do have to wonder if Lloyd Harris is ready to beat someone like Stefanos Tsitsipas, even if the latter's current form is hardly all that inspiring.

Lloyd Harris will know his serve needs to more effective than it has been in the matches against top 100 Ranked opponents and it is an area that Stefanos Tsitsipas may feel gives him the edge.

You would never describe the World Number 53 as a really strong return player on this surface, but Stefanos Tsitsipas showed what he can do against Arthur Fils and the expectation is that he can get through this Second Round without needing to get to a deciding set.

Ben Shelton - 1.5 sets v Hubert Hurkacz: Both of these players have moved through the First Round of the US Open after dropping a single set and both have won a title in the build up to the final Grand Slam of the 2026 season.

However, it cannot be ignored that World Number 8 Ben Shelton won his in Montreal at the Canadian Masters, while Hubert Hurkacz won a Challenger event in Cancun.

Hubert Hurkacz will always feel he gives himself a chance to win matches with his booming serve and that is going to have to be important for him in his bid to earn the upset. Despite that serve, Hurkacz has not really been able to have the kind of consistent impact at Grand Slam events that a career high World Number 6 mark suggests he should have.

The Pole has reached the Semi Final at Wimbledon and Quarter Final at the Australian Open, but the Second Round is as good as it has gotten in New York City and Hubert Hurkacz may need an 'off day' from Ben Shelton to win this match.

Ben Shelton has won a couple of hard court titles and reached the Quarter Final in Melbourne earlier this year, while he has found a bit more consistency on his return. The American is always going to have a very dangerous serve, but he has broken in 17% of return games on the hard courts in each of the last two seasons and Ben Shelton has won a few more points on the return compared with 2025.

Putting that together continues to keep Ben Shelton as one of the leading contenders whenever he enters a hard court tournament, even if he has room for improvement to bridge the gap to the absolute elite on the Tour. His performance in the First Round against a dangerous server will give Ben Shelton the belief to take into this tough Second Round match and the fans are likely going to be very loud behind the home player.

All of this looks to be leading to a Ben Shelton win in three or four sets in what should be a serve dominated contest.

World Matchplay Darts Day 4 Picks 2026 (Tuesday 21st July)

So many may have pencilled in another Luke vs Luke Final at the World Matchplay, but Cameron Menzies produced an exceptional performance to dump out Humphries and really open up the bottom half of the draw.

All eight players remaining in that half will now feel a big opportunity is in front of them, but it does look the weaker half after the demise of the World Number 2, even if the likes of Ross Smith, Menzies, Gian van Veen, Wessel Nijman and Rob Cross would have something to say about that on the form produced.

On Tuesday, the attention is on the top half of the draw and all four Second Round matches look like they could be of high quality.

There is every chance the fans are going to be getting to see some world class darts with former World Champions, Premier League players and Major Winners all ready to take their spot in the Quarter Final later in the week.

Jonny Clayton-Gary Anderson both over 4.5 180s & 2+ 100+ checkouts: Two veterans of the Tour who continue to perform at a high level are meeting in what could turn out to be a very good Second Round match.

Gary Anderson was definitely the more impressive winner in the First Round and once again aimed barbs at his critics after the win over Ryan Joyce, but he has not been playing as much as the likes of Jonny Clayton.

That may not be a factor that decides the outcome of the match, but Clayton has been keeping a high level going for much longer and in a potentially tight contest, that could make the difference.

Jonny Clayton needed some clutch finishing to hold off Damon Heta in the First Round, but that is more evidence that the darts he has been playing week after week will strengthen the resolve when things get difficult. We did not see Gary Anderson tested in the First Round, although that is much more to do with the level he produced on the day, but it does leave questions as to how his game will hold up under the pressure that the Welshman can bring.

Both players are not only very good treble 20 hitters, but they have shown in the First Round that the combination finishing remains a strength. Jonny Clayton had four ton plus finishes in the First Round, while Gary Anderson had two of his own, and these two players are more than capable of getting together for at least seventeen or eighteen Legs before a winner is decided.

That should mean there is enough time for five maximums each and at least two more 100 plus finishes in this Second Round contest.

Michael van Gerwen to win & over 4.5 180s v Dirk van Duijvenbode: One Dutchman will be playing in the World Matchplay Quarter Final at the conclusion of this Second Round match and it could be a really good battle between Michael van Gerwen and Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Both came through tough tests in the First Round, although both may feel they allowed the opponent back into matches when they were in control.

Michael van Gerwen took control sooner than Dirk van Duijvenbode, who needed extra Legs to finally get past Chris Dobey, and the higher Ranked of these compatriots got the better of van Duijvenbode when they met at a Players Championship Final in May.

That was a high quality affair and this could be another with both showing flashes of what they are capable of in recent weeks.

The edge here has to be with Michael van Gerwen who may be able to sustain a higher level for longer than Dirk van Duijvenbode- the latter came right off the boil when it looked like he was about to win his First Round match. Anything like that again will be punished by MvG, although van Gerwen will be aware that his scoring will need to remain strong against an opponent who can go through incredible hot patches on the oche.

We should get to something like an 11-7 score and Michael van Gerwen will likely have needed plenty of maximums to earn a win if the match develops as it should.

Luke Littler-Nathan Aspinall over 12.5 180s & 2+ 100+ checkouts: There was a real feeling that Nathan Aspinall's friendship with Luke Littler had created a pecking order when it comes to the head to head on the oche.

Luke Littler has dominated the numbers, but it should be noted that Nathan Aspinall beat him in a couple of Masters events last season.

They have not faced one another since a meeting at the Players Championship Finals at the back end of 2025, which was won by Littler in this format.

Neither has been playing a lot of darts of late, but both looked in really good form in the First Round and it could be a Second Round match that features plenty of maximum hitting. You have to believe that combination finishing is going to be key at a couple of points during the contest, but Aspinall will need to find his scoring early to avoid getting too far behind Luke Littler.

Even a slow start rarely affects Luke Littler and he has become the clear favourite to win the tournament after the upset suffered by Luke Humphries in the opening Round. It is not a pressure that should hinder Littler's performance and both players can rack up the maximums and add a couple of 100+ checkouts to the match.

Stephen Bunting to win & over 3.5 180s v Josh Rock: Despite playing in the Premier League this season, Josh Rock and Stephen Bunting did not have too many meetings in that tournament as they both struggled for consistency.

That was the case in the opening wins here in Blackpool, although Josh Rock made much easier work of Luke Woodhouse than Stephen Bunting did of Niels Zonneveld.

More credit has to be given to Bunting for coming through some high pressure spots and thaet should leave him ready to get the better of Josh Rock at a major tournament. The Bullet will be looking for revenge for the loss at the UK Open and he will have noted that Josh Rock is still not finding his consistent best form.

The Northern Irishman is dangerous- he can be very strong around the treble 20 bed and Josh Rock was finishing well in the First Round. However, he was playing without being put under the kind of pressure expected and someone like Stephen Bunting should offer a much sterner test.

Stephen Bunting will need to improve his finishing, but he may have just enough to edge to a win and contribute at least four maximums to the cause in this best of twenty-one format.

Wimbledon Tennis Day 4 Picks 2026 (Thursday 2nd July)

The tournament continues at Wimbledon with the conclusion of the Second Round at this Grand Slam event on Thursday.

With other big sporting events scheduled to be played over this coming month, Wimbledon is perhaps struggling to earn the early headlines that they would usually expect. Unfortunately it is a year when a major international football tournament is also being played, which makes things tougher for this event to pick up the headlines, while this weekend we have the British Grand Prix and soon fans will be thinking about the latest edition of The Open.

Things should change as we get deeper into the third Slam of the season.

Most of the big names are ticking through the draw, which is going to set up headline-grabbing contests later in the tournament and the Third Round has already begun to take shape.

Heat is going to be the biggest challenge for the players from Friday through to the end of the 2026 Wimbledon tournament, and it may need the roof for assistance, but for now that is an issue that will have to be dealt with over the weekend and Thursday should still be comfortable enough for players involved.

Alex De Minaur - 5.5 games v Adrian Mannarino: There has always been a huge amount of comfort for Adrian Mannarino when he has played on the grass courts and the recently turned 38 year old has used the experience to help him get the better of younger opponents.

These days Adrian Mannarino is the World Number 40, but that is also a testament to the kind of tennis that the Frenchman can still produce. He was a very comfortable First Round winner when forcing his opponent to not create a single Break Point and Adrian Mannarino will certainly be playing with 'nothing to lose'.

At the same time, Mannarino will recognise the challenge in front of him against an opponent who has beaten him in four matches in a row.

Two of those wins have been on the grass courts, although Alex De Minaur had not faced Adrian Mannarino since the 2023 Queen's Club tournament before getting the better of the veteran in Hertogenbosch last month. It was a victory earned in the Semi Final, but that run will be a reminder to Alex De Minaur that he cannot afford too many slow starts.

It was a slow start in the First Round, but the scheduling to head out onto court just minutes after fiancee Katie Boulter suffered a defeat was not ideal for the Australian. Battling through the first set did give Alex De Minaur the confidence to roll through the next two sets and the feeling is that the World Number 6 can do something similar in this match.

When they met last month in the Hertogenbosch Semi Final, Alex De Minaur had a considerable edge on the return of serve.

The key is that the Australian has seen this lefty serve very recently and Alex De Minaur should be able to wear down Adrian Mannarino over three or four sets.

Taylor Fritz - 6.5 games v Patrick Kypson: This is a big spread for a player to cover when they have struggled on the return side of their tennis and especially on the grass courts.

However, World Number 7 Taylor Fritz is a pretty comfortable player on the surface and he should be able to get the better of compatriot Patrick Kypson who has limited grass court experience and who did not play a competitive tournament prior to Wimbledon getting underway. Patrick Kypson beat Mackenzie McDonald in the First Round, but this is a huge step up in terms of level with McDonald out at World Number 145 and Taylor Fritz in the top ten.

Earlier this year, Patrick Kypson reached the top 100 of the World Rankings, but he has dropped back out of those positions and it will be a challenge to put together the kind of results to see him earn a direct spot in the US Open in August. The First Round win is a big boost, but Kypson is going to be under pressure to serve well in this match against Taylor Fritz who reached the Final in Stuttgart and Halle, albeit coming up short in both.

Taylor Fritz has also reached the Quarter Final in three of the last four years at Wimbledon and broke through to reach the Semi Final in 2025.

Skipping out of the clay court season may have given Taylor Fritz time to get up to full health and he was pretty happy with his First Round performance. Reaching the Final has to be the aim in the half of the draw opposite both Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner and especially with Ben Shelton also eliminated, but Fritz is going to be keen to just show how much he is focused on the task at hand.

The Patrick Kypson serve can be dangerous and it will make for a competitive set or two, but Taylor Fritz may eventually use his own serve to keep the pressure on the younger American and that could see things just run away from Patrick Kypson when all is said and done.

World Cup of Darts Day 4 Picks 2026 (Sunday 14th June)

The top Seeds all moved through to the final day of the World Cup of Darts and that means there should be some very good matches to be played throughout the day.

Building on what was a solid return on Day 3 is the key, while any selections from the Semi Final matches will be placed in this thread later in the afternoon when those markets have been released.

[EVENING SESSION] Some of the players may have suggested that the top four Seeded teams should not be given a Bye into the Second Round and instead join the Group Stage like the majority of the tournament.

Whether having two more days of rest ahead of the start of the tournament would make that much difference is up for debate, but the top four Seeds have made it through to the Semi Final.

Scotland and Netherlands were pretty dominant, but England and Northern Ireland needed to win last Leg deciders to earn their places in the Semi Final.

The World Cup of Darts will come to a conclusion in the Evening Session with the Semi Final and Final played through the night- and it should be a fun evening when you think of the quality of teams taking part.

Scotland - 1.5 legs v Ireland: These two teams moved through to the Quarter Final in very different ways on Saturday with Scotland dominating as favourites, while Ireland came through a tough match when they had been set as the underdog.

Both pairs look very good and have gelled together pretty effectively, although there is a very limited sample size when it comes to Scotland.

Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies are both very solid players when operating at their best, but the test will be much stiffer in this one after Norway capitulated. That will also mean a test of the temperament, while Ireland are much more relaxed having already come through the Group Stage before beating Poland in the Second Round.

Ireland are definitely dangerous, but the narrow edge may still be with Scotland who could be the heavier scorers in the contest and that may put them in a position to win without needing to go into a final Leg decider.

England over 4.5 180s v Wales: You have to imagine that the Luke and Luke pairing of England are going to get everyone's best effort, but they did enough to hold off the Spanish team on Saturday.

Pairs is a very different game, but by the end of that Second Round win, Littler and Humphries were beginning to really roll and they can take that into this Quarter Final.

You cannot dismiss the chances of the Welsh team, but Nick Kenny may have to be a little stronger to keep up with the other three players on the oche.

It does look like England are the stronger team, but the focus is on the power scoring again and the top two players in the world can get back into the maximum zone as they did on Saturday evening.

England should win, but the focus will be on the maximum market in this Quarter Final.

England & Scotland over 3.5 180s: This Semi Final has two quality teams involved and it could be a contest featuring plenty of big power scoring.

Of course it cannot be one-sided for either team if this selection is to come in, but it would be a surprise if either is blown away.

Both teams have been powering in the maximums, which is not a big surprise with the quality of player throwing, and both hitting at least three looks capable of getting very close.

Netherlands over 3.5 180s & Northern Ireland over 2.5 180s: Another very good looking match is set to take place in the second Semi Final and this one features three Premier League players.

Josh Rock put together a special Check Out to keep the Northern Irish in a position to defend the World Cup won twelve months ago, but this match against the Netherlands represents a big, big challenge.

Gian van Veen and Michael van Gerwen have gelled very well and both are capable of getting into the groove with the maximum hitting, while Josh Rock showed twelve months ago how quickly he can begin to pound the treble bed and with a huge amount of consistency.

The Netherlands have really impressed through the first couple of wins, but Northern Ireland are unlikely to let go of their World Cup crown without a fight and it could see both hitting plenty of maximums.

It is the Dutch who have the edge with both players capable of putting together stretches of power scoring, but Northern Ireland can add to the show in the second Semi Final.

MY PICKS: Scotland - 1.5 Legs @ 1.72 Bet365 (1 Unit)
England Over 4.5 180s @ 2.10 Bet365 (1 Unit)

SEMI FINAL: England & Scotland Over 3.5 180s @ 2.30 Bet365 (1 Unit)

French Open Tennis Day 4 Picks 2026 (Wednesday 27th May)

The conditions have been very difficult for the players in Paris and that has led to a number of retirements in the First Round of this Grand Slam tournament.

It does not get any easier for those going out on Day 4 when the Second Round begins at Roland Garros and this is a time where the top names just want to continue to get through as easily as possible.

The selections from the Day 4 action can be read below.

Novak Djokovic - 6.5 games v Valentin Royer: Last week, Novak Djokovic turned 39 years old and all of his former rivals have long moved into retirement.

It is no surprise that the body is not able to stand up to the rigours of the Tour as much as previously, but Novak Djokovic reached the Australian Open Final in January and he is convinced there is still a Major left to win. There is a feeling that the window is closing and Djokovic is no longer a player who is going to be worrying about his World Ranking, but the absence of Carlos Alcaraz offers an opportunity and the former World Number 1 is still one of the top clay court performers on the Tour.

At least Novak Djokovic was in 2025- we simply don't know where he stands in 2026 with just one clay court match played in the build up to the French Open, while Djokovic had to dig in before beating home hope Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in four sets in the First Round. After a couple of tight sets that were split, Novak Djokovic moved through the gears and he will appreciate being off the court before three hours had ticked onto the clock, which means having enough time to appreciate the conditions without overburdening himself.

Another Frenchman will be standing in the way in the Second Round of the tournament, but Valentin Royer is going to have to pick up his level if he is going to be celebrating his 25th birthday in a Third Round match on Friday.

Valentin Royer made short work of his First Round opponent, but he had not been in great form prior to the start of the French Open.

In fact, Valentin Royer had lost five of six matches played on the clay courts and his biggest successes in the build up to the French Open have been at Challenger level.

This is going to be a big challenge for a player who has faced two top 100 Ranked opponents on the clay this season- Valentin Royer has won just 53% of service points played in those two matches, which have led to 63% holds of serve, while the Frenchman has struggled on the return in both to put himself under real pressure.

It does feel like a big ask to push Novak Djokovic- even this current undercooked version- and the latter looked to be rolling through the gears by the end of the First Round match.

If he can pick up from where he left off, Novak Djokovic may be able to produce the tennis in this Second Round match to make routine progress and not tax himself too much in what are likely to be brutal conditions on late Wednesday afternoon in this Paris heatwave.

Alexander Zverev - 6.5 games v Tomas Machac: It has been written in the Novak Djokovic preview for his Second Round match that the writer feels the absence of Carlos Alcaraz is a big boost for the former World Number 1 as he looks for a twenty-fifth Grand Slam title.

The absolute same can be said for the Number 2 Seed in the French Open draw as Alexander Zverev chases a maiden Grand Slam title.

Two years ago, Alexander Zverev was beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open Final after leading 2-1, although the World Number 3 has openly admitted he still feels Jannik Sinner is the clear favourite to win this title. However, being able to avoid the Italian until the Final and knowing that a big battle with Carlos Alcaraz is not needed should give Alexander Zverev confidence that he can finally pick up a big Grand Slam title.

Five sets were needed when Zverev was beaten by Alcaraz in the Australian Open Semi Final earlier this year, but the former has reached at least one Grand Slam Final in each of the last two seasons. Alexander Zverev made very comfortable work of Benjamin Bonzi in the First Round, despite the potential of that being an awkward draw, and he will enter this French Open Second Round match with real confidence.

In terms of World Ranking, a match up with Tomas Machac will feel like it has come a bit too early- the 25 year old was inside the top 20 of the World Rankings thirteen months ago, but dropped out of the Seeding positions as injuries have held back the Czech player.

Tomas Machac has produced his best tennis on the faster surfaces, but his First Round win over Zizou Bergs in straight sets shows the kind of level that he can produce when fully dialled in.

The 5-4 record on the clay courts prior to the French Open is one thing, but Tomas Machac has shown his inconsistencies within tournaments during that time- he has only managed to win two matches in a row on one occasion in a clay court tournament this season, while the Tomas Machac defeats have been against some of the stronger clay court players on the Tour, but also adding a disappointing defeat to Cameron Norrie to the ledger.

It is clear the serve is not nearly as effective on the clay as it is on other surfaces, although the very hot conditions in Paris should aid Tomas Machac.

He is 1-2 on the clay courts when facing top 20 Ranked opponents this season and Tomas Machac is now 2-9 in his career under those conditions. There have been some competitiveness shown, but the Machac serve is a big part of his tennis and in those matches against top 20 Ranked opponents, those numbers are heavily impacted on the surface.

As mentioned, conditions will help, but the same applies for Alexander Zverev, who is the much more comfortable player on the surface.

This Second Round match at the French Open has been scheduled for the Night Session, which may not be an issue for Alexander Zverev as much as Tomas Machac, and the higher Ranked player will take confidence from having beaten Machac on the clay courts of Roland Garros in routine fashion at the Paris Olympics in the summer of 2024.

Alexander Zverev can sometimes get bogged down in matches in Grand Slam events, but this is a Second Round opponent that should focus the former Finalist and that can see him put together the performance needed to avoid the upset as the German moves through to the Third Round on Friday.

Miami Tennis Day 4 Picks 2026 (Friday 20th March)

The Miami tournament continues to play catch up after Day 2 was washed out, but the Second Round of the WTA event has begun and there should be plenty of matches scheduled from that Round on Friday.

Some of those matches will only be put together at the conclusion of Day 3 and so any further selections will be added to this thread.

The opening totals from the tournament will also be updated and added to this thread on Friday when all of the first four selections have been completed.

UPDATE: As expected, the Miami Masters event is trying to get back on track and that means all twenty-eight WTA Second Round matches that have yet to be completed are all scheduled to be played on Friday, which starts an hour earlier than usual on the outdoor courts.

There is also the conclusion of the ATP First Round and Second Round matches scheduled from that event and I have added selections from markets that were formed overnight.

The Miami totals have also been updated after the opening four Picks were completed late on Thursday evening.

Amanda Anisimova - 5.5 games v Ajla Tomljanovic: The peak of her career may be behind her, but that does not mean Ajla Tomljanovic is going to roll over for any opponent she faces on the Tour.

However, the gap is increasing between the Australian and the better players on the Tour and that will mean matches are taking away from her, even if she is giving her all on the court.

Ajla Tomljanovic has never been higher than World Number 32, but she is operating with a number 81 next to her name these days- after a slow start to the 2026 season, Tomljanovic has reached the Quarter Final in Austin and the Third Round in Indian Wells where she was able to upset a Seeded player in the Second Round.

That was the Number 30 Seed in Indian Wells, but in Miami she is facing not only a top ten Ranked opponent, but someone who has reached Grand Slam Finals at Wimbledon and the US Open last year and a player who is very comfortable on this surface.

Amanda Anisimova did reach the Fourth Round in Miami last year, but another good run here and moving past that stage would see her edge that much closer to the top four places in the World Ranking. The 24 year old has become an all-court player and credit has to be given to Anisimova for putting together stronger numbers on the clay courts and grass courts in 2025 compared with the hard courts, which suggests this is a player that is a threat at all four Grand Slams played.

The Fourth Round loss in Indian Wells will have been something of a disappointment, but Amanda Anisimova has been a Quarter Finalist at the Australian Open and Semi Finalist in Dubai and over the last twelve months she has been dominant when facing players outside the top 50 of the World Rankings on this surface.

The numbers have backed up the strong scoreboard wins and the American should have too much for veteran Ajla Tomljanovic- the latter has won the two Tour meetings, but one was back in 2017 and the other in 2021 and it was Tomljanovic who was Ranked higher on both occasions.

It is much different now and the Amanda Anisimova aggressive ball-striking should give her the edge in this match, while covering this big line is also well within her scope.

Belinda Bencic - 4.5 games v Zeynep Sonmez: Coming through the Qualifiers and reaching the Australian Open Third Round has raised the Zeynep Sonmez profile, although that has perhaps meant expectations have also not been easy to meet. The 23 year old received a lot of support through the Middle East swing soon after her run at Melbourne, but three opening defeats has just reminded people that Sonmez still has some developing to get through if she wants to move up the World Rankings.

At the moment Zeynep Sonmez is the World Number 83 and her career best mark was set in October at Number 69.

She reached the Quarter Final in Merida since the Middle East swing ended without any victories and Zeynep Sonmez has won First Round matches at both Indian Wells and here in Miami. However, the run ended in Indian Wells in the Second Round and it is going to take some effort for Sonmez to beat the World Number 12 in the Second Round at this tournament.

Belinda Bencic dropped more Ranking Points when losing in the Fourth Round at Indian Wells last week, but she has nothing to defend here in Miami and the Swiss star is going to want to push back into the top ten ahead of the clay court season. Number 4 is still the career high for Belinda Bencic, but she has returned to the Tour after becoming a mother and there remain real ambitions to win a Major title.

After winning all five matches at the United Cup in early January, it has been more of a struggle for Belinda Bencic who has won four of seven matches played since that opening tournament. She was in good shape in Indian Wells before losing to Jessica Pegula in a competitive match and that will bode well for Belinda Bencic who will be looking to put a confidence boosting run on the board ahead of the build up towards the French Open.

She has particularly thrived when facing those opponents she would be expected to beat, namely those who are Ranked lower than her when entering the court- over the last twelve months, Belinda Bencic is 19-3 in those matches and her numbers have backed that up with noticeable improvements on the serve and return.

Underestimating Zoynep Sonmez would be a mistake considering the Turkish player has a 3-4 record over the last twelve months on the hard courts when facing top 50 Ranked opponents. The underdog has won both matches against top 20 Ranked opponents in that time and with nothing to lose, Sonmez can become dangerous.

It should be noted that Zoynep Sonmez has come out of those two matches by just edging the very fine margins and that is hard to sustain.

A confident Belinda Bencic can be very tough to stop on the hard courts and it may be that the higher Ranked player can win a few more easy points behind the first serve that allows her to control this match. This will also mean Bencic can take a real swing on the return of serve and ultimately it may end up with the more experienced player coming through with a solid win on the scoreboard.

Clara Tauson - 3.5 games v Katie Boulter: Eighteen months ago, Katie Boulter was moving into her career best World Ranking mark of Number 23 and looking very capable of breaking into the top 20.

Injury and a loss of form prevented that happening and Boulter has struggled to get herself going again with her current World Ranking down at Number 67. A First Round win will help, but Katie Boulter has work to do if she is going to be in a position to be Seeded when Wimbledon comes around later this year.

She did not play badly on the clay courts last season so an opportunity will come up if Boulter can build up some confidence and momentum by earning an upset in the Second Round in Miami. These big WTA 1000 events makes it very difficult for any player to put together strong runs considering the quality of competition very early in the tournaments, but that is especially the case for those that begin in the First Round like the British player had to do.

Familiarising herself with the conditions has to be a positive, but a Second Round match against Clara Tauson is a tough prospect.

The 23 old is the World Number 16 and her hard court numbers have been pretty good this season, even if the results have not always backed that up. Consistency is a good thing for players like Clara Tauson who has a powerful serve on this surface, although there is room for improvement when it comes to the return.

Those improved numbers have been there over the last twelve months when Clara Tauson has faced opponents Ranked outside the top 50 and she came through a Second Round match in Indian Wells against such an opponent. However, the Dane will have been really disappointed to have lost a tight match against the World Number 92 in Talia Gibson and that is the kind of result that Katie Boulter must use as a form of encouragement about her own chances.

A career long problem for Katie Boulter has been facing the better players on the Tour on this surface- she has won just 32% of matches against top 50 Ranked opponents and that drops to 15% when only considering top 20 opponents.

Katie Boulter is 1-5 against top 20 Ranked opponents over the last twelve months in hard court matches and she would be 3-3 when it comes to covering this handicap mark. That is 2-3 when only considering the matches she has lost and the feeling is that Clara Tauson has a bit too much power behind her strokes, which will give her the edge in this contest.

The sole previous meeting ended in a routine win for Clara Tauson back in 2022, but that is largely irrelevant now- despite that, the higher Ranked player should still have a bit too much for Boulter and she can cover this handicap mark in this Second Round match in Miami.

Marton Fucsovics - 2.5 games v Christopher O'Connell: Another Qualifier looking to use some of the momentum and familiarity of the conditions in his favour is Christoper O'Connell, but he has once again been drawn to face Marton Fucsovics.

That did not go so well in Indian Wells as the Australian was beaten pretty handily, but some believe the courts in Miami will play a little faster and that should help.

However, it is the second one-sided loss suffered against the veteran over the last twelve months, albeit the first on a hard court, and Christoper O'Connell has been struggling for consistency to open 2026. That is underlined by his drop into World Number 130 and there has been some pressure on the O'Connell serve, which is not operating at the kind of standards he has set previously.

He struggled against Marton Fucsovics in Indian Wells and the latter ended up reaching the Third Round at that event in what has been a pretty inconsistent start to the season for him too.

Marton Fucsovics is 34 years old now, but he still has a decent game on the courts.

On the main Tour, Marton Fucsovics is 7-2 on the hard courts when facing those Ranked below him and that is over a twelve month sample.

Not only has he held 88% of his service games in that time, but Fucsovics has created constant pressure on the return with 32% of return games ending in a Break and that was shown in the Indian Wells win over this opponent.

If Christoper O'Connell serves well, this is a dangerous spread, but Marton Fucsovics has all of the tools he needs to overcome the mark and move into a Second Round match against the Number 7 Seed in the draw.

Indian Wells Tennis Day 4 Picks 2026 (Saturday 7th March)

Some of the top names on the Tennis Tour joined the Indian Wells party on Friday and the remainder of the draw will now enter the fray on Saturday as the Second Round is completed.

There have been some mixed results with the last two days ending with 1-1 records, but there is a long week to go in the first of two Masters events to be played in North America this month.

Saturday looks to be a busier day for the Tennis Picks with four selections made, all from the ATP tournament, and this is when the tournament really begins to motor.

Carlos Alcaraz - 5.5 games v Grigor Dimitrov: Twelve months ago, Carlos Alcaraz crushed Grigor Dimitrov for the loss of just two games right here in Indian Wells, but that was a Fourth Round match and the World Number 1 had to snap a two match losing run to this opponent.

In 2026, Carlos Alcaraz is playing at a much higher level than Grigor Dimitrov on his return from an injury.

Even with that in mind, it is not expected to be as comfortable a win for Carlos Alcaraz as it was when these two met in 2025, although the Spaniard is right to be considered a significant favourite.

This is the first competitive match that Carlos Alcaraz will have played in Indian Wells this year, but he has been on the grounds for some time and that will help. Confidence is not going to be any issue considering Alcaraz has won all twelve matches played in 2026 and has picked up titles in Melbourne and Doha.

Grigor Dimitrov battled for almost two and a half hours to win his First Round match, but he was far from convincing and the level increases significantly in the Second Round.

The Bulgarian has yet to find his best form since his return from injury and he will be under pressure to serve well enough to contain the threat that Carlos Alcaraz brings onto the court.

There was nothing wrong with the Grigor Dimitrov performance in the First Round, and the signs of improving the return game will certainly give him belief.

However, this is a tough test for any player on the Tour and especially for one that. is perhaps not feeling quite at his very best.

Over the last twelve months, Carlos Alcaraz has been keeping opponents under constant pressure with his returning and that may see him break down the Dimitrov game on Saturday.

Luciano Darderi - 2.5 games v Rinky Hijikata: It is no surprise that Luciano Darderi took in the South American Golden Swing on the clay courts rather than the hard court events.

He had a successful time with a title secured and the World Number 21 will be looking to make a better transition onto the hard courts compared with last year. An early loss at Indian Wells means Luciano Darderi has plenty of Ranking Points to pick up with a couple of wins, even if he has struggled to put the consistency together on the hard courts.

2026 might be looking brighter having finished up at the Australian Open with a 4-2 record, but there is still room for improvement in his game on this surface.

Despite that, the Italian is rightly favoured to beat Rinky Hijikata who has slipped outside the top 100 of the World Rankings.

The Australian has always been pretty happy on the hard courts and he has won plenty of Qualifiers to earn spots in main draws, although without having a big impact in a tournament as he would have liked.

Rinky Hijikata has yet to win two matches in a row in the main draw of any ATP Tour event, but he will take aim at doing that in the Second Round here.

Out of the two players, Hijikata has been the one having more success on the return and that could be important on a surface like the one that tends to play at this hard court Masters event.

However, Luciano Darderi will take plenty of confidence out of beating Rinky Hijikata at a couple of Grand Slam events, including a crushing display at the US Open last year.

The Italian has won all six sets against this opponent and Luciano Darderi may do enough to edge past this spread.

Winmau World Masters Darts Day 4 Picks 2026 (Sunday 1st February)

Five of the eight players left standing at the World Masters will be playing in the Premier League next week, but there is no doubt that James Wade and Danny Noppert are playing with something to prove.

The latter has beaten a Premier League participant and both Noppert and Wade can feel pretty hard done by after being overlooked by the PDC.

Danny Noppert is outwardly showing less irritation about missing out on one of the tournaments that will get plenty of eyes on the product, but James Ward has been very critical with the decision making process that saw him left out.

Winning the Masters would be the absolute best way to show they belong and both players have tough Quarter Final matches to negotiate.

You still have to see Luke Littler has the favourite, but it is Luke Humphries who hit the Nine Darter and the defending Champion looks very confident.

The two Lukes continue to make most of the headlines, but the other six players beginning Sunday's play will all be very confident in their own chances of securing the opening World Ranking title.

Double- Gerwyn Price & Luke Humpries to win: Quarter Final matches will be played in the Day Session at the World Masters and all four look more competitive than the oddsmakers think.

It definitely feels like Luke Littler and Gian van Veen are very short against dangerous opponents in Josh Rock and James Wade.

Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries are slightly bigger priced favourites, but they may do enough to get past Chris Dobey and Danny Noppert respectively.

Over the last couple of Rounds, Humphries has played with a point to prove with back to back averages of above 100, while also hitting the Nine Darter.

There is no doubting that Noppert can give Luke Humphries something to think about and has the scoring to keep up with the former World Champion, but it is Humphries who has tended to find a way through.

You do also have to respect how well Chris Dobey has played in the tournament so far, but Gerwyn Price has been operating at a high level for months and showed plenty of will and desire to beat his mate Jonny Clayton in the Second Round.

This one could go all the way, but Price may just have the consistency to come through the pressurised moments.

Australian Open Tennis Day 4 Picks 2026 (Wednesday 21st January)

Day 3 proved to be a little more difficult with the selections going 1-2, but the numbers are decent enough through the First Round.

The Australian Open will settle down from here with the Second Round played over two days and moving into a format much more familiar to the fans.

Of course it is nice to hear the majority of the top players have moved through the First Round, but the challenges will begin to get tougher and tougher.

Conditions have not been an issue so far at the tournament, but Melbourne does tend to get very hot and that will be an issue later in the week and early into next week- for now, most players should be comfortable, although the wind and potential rainy conditions late into Day 4 could be a factor.

After a couple of 'quieter' days, the selections from Day 4 can be read below with six Picks made.

Tommy Paul - 7.5 games v Thiago Agustin Tirante: Three years ago he made the Semi Final here in Melbourne and Tommy Paul was able to work his way through to the Quarter Final last year. He won his First Round match in the 2026 tournament with something to spare and the American looks good to make it through to the Third Round again.

Six months ago, Tommy Paul was inside the top 10 of the World Rankings, but he begins this event as the World Number 20 after a relatively quiet second half of the 2025 season.

A run to the Adelaide Semi Final in the warm up to the Australian Open will have given Tommy Paul some confidence and he should have the quality of hard court tennis to beat this opponent.

Thiago Agustin Tirante may be most happy on a clay court, but he is just outside of the top 100 of the World Rankings after putting a solid year on the board on this surface.

However, the majority of those matches on the hard courts were played at Challenger or Qualifier level and this is a significant step upwards in terms of level of opponent. The serve could be an important weapon, although Tirante is facing someone who has been able to get into return games very effectively on this surface.

Tommy Paul has produced some very solid numbers against players Ranked outside the top 50 over the last twelve months- he has not only held 91% of service games played in those hard court matches, but Paul has broken in 27% of return games and he will look to put the pressure on Thiago Agustin Tirante in this one.

The break percentage moves up to 33% when only focusing on matches against players outside of the top 100 and Tommy Paul can back up the First Round win with a similar margin of victory.

Frances Tiafoe - 4.5 games v Francisco Comesana: He was able to roll through the gears after coming through a tight first set in the First Round, but Frances Tiafoe will know that he needs to be a lot better if he is going to have a serious impact in Melbourne.

Four of the last five appearances at the Australian Open have ended in the Second Round, but Frances Tiafoe has to look at this match as an opportunity.

His World Ranking has been slipping over the last several months and there is a danger that Frances Tiafoe will not be Seeded at Grand Slam events to be played in 2026. He is the Number 29 Seed at the Australian Open, but another early exit and then a couple of poor months on the Tour would push Frances Tiafoe into a position where he could end up facing top names right from the outset in a Major.

After winning in straight sets, Frances Tiafoe is taking on Francisco Comesana.

Like many playing out of South America, Francisco Comesana will spend the majority of his time playing clay court tennis and his hard court numbers have been steady, but unspectacular. Over the last twelve months, Comesana has really had a tough time when drawn against top 50 Ranked opponents and his service numbers have not been nearly as effective as they would need to be on a hard court.

Francisco Comesana is not playing an opponent who has the most consistent return on the Tour, but Frances Tiafoe may be able to begin to exert his control on the match the longer it goes.

This is what happened in the First Round and the World Number 34 might just be able to produce something similar as he looks to overcome the same spread as faced against Jason Kubler.

Alexander Zverev - 6.5 games v Alexandre Muller: This is the fourth time Alexander Zverev and Alexandre Muller will be facing one another in the last eighteen months and the second time they will be meeting in a Grand Slam played on the hard courts.

At the 2024 US Open, Alexander Zverev was able to wear down this opponent and the World Number 3 should be in control of this Second Round match, even if he can sometimes be a little too passive in his play.

Some will criticise Alexander Zverev for the slow start made against Gabriel Diallo, but that was a tough First Round match and by the end he was cruising past the Canadian. This time he will be facing an opponent who is actually Ranked lower than Diallo and the match up should be one that keeps Zverev relatively comfortable.

Alexandre Muller is getting the most out of his talent and has to be credited for his World Ranking, while he upset home hope Alexei Popyrin in the First Round. That is a win that deserves plenty of respect in a hostile atmosphere, but the Frenchman struggles on the return of serve and that will always make big wins that much harder to come.

That has been the case in the previous matches against Zverev with just 14% of return games ending in breaks of serve.

However, the most recent match saw Alexandre Muller upset Alexander Zverev on the clay courts of Hamburg and that will give the underdog some belief.

He has been stronger on the clay courts compared with the hard courts and the switch onto this surface should favour the World Number 3.

There will be moments that Alexandre Muller can roll through his service games, but the best of five set format clearly favours Alexander Zverev. A similar match to the First Round could end up developing with Zverev beginning to get a read on the Muller serve and that was the case when they played on the hard courts of New York City.

Focus will be the key for Alexander Zverev- as long as he avoids some sloppy moments, he should be the better player and can eventually make sure that shows on the final scoreboard.

Francisco Cerundolo - 5.5 games v Damir Dzumhur: He helped produce one of the winners on Day 1 at the Australian Open and Francisco Cerundolo may be worth backing to do the same with a similar level of dominance in the Second Round.

The tennis produced is pretty eye-pleasing and Cerundolo is comfortable on the hard courts.

The World Number 21 did not drop a set in the First Round win and Francisco Cerundolo is going to be very confident with this match up against a 33 year old who has been struggling to stay in the top 50 of the World Rankings.

Damir Dzumhur is the current World Number 66 and he had lost both matches played before a First Round win over a Qualifier.

He had a pretty average year on the hard courts in 2025 and Damir Dzumhur has really had issues over the last twelve months when he has faced the stronger players on the Tour. In that time, Dzumhur has lost seven of nine matches played on the hard courts against top 50 Ranked opponents and the serve has been very vulnerable in those matches with just 68% of those games ending in a hold of serve.

Someone like Francisco Cerundolo will want to use his aggression to get on top of that serve and really put Damir Dzumhur under pressure.

That was the case when they met at the Paris Masters on an indoor hard court at the end of the 2025 season and Francisco Cerundolo broke the Dzumhur serve five times in a two set win.

There is no doubt that Damir Dzumhur will have his moments of putting Francisco Cerundolo's serve under a bit of pressure and that is partly down to the aggressive, front foot tennis that the Argentinian player likes to produce. That kind of style will lead to some mistakes and Dzumhur has found breaks in 24% of return games played against Cerundolo.

However, he is yet to beat the higher Ranked player because Damir Dzumhur has won just 50% of points played behind his own serve and he has been broken in 52% of service games played. This is a number that will keep anyone under pressure and Francisco Cerundolo looks ready to move through to the Third Round at the Australian Open behind another solid victory.

The First Round win means Francisco Cerundolo has won ten of the twelve hard court matches played against opponents Ranked outside of the top 50 over the last twelve months.

In those, Francisco Cerundolo has held 78% of service games played and broken in 25% of return games and he should be able to maintain his dominance over this opponent by covering the spread on his way through to the next Round.

ATP Finals Day 4 Tennis Picks 2025 (Wednesday 12th November)

The second Group will complete another round of matches on Wednesday and there is every chance the Semi Final lineup will really begin to take shape by the end of play.

The second match is going to feature the World Number 2 and Italian Number 1, and that is the match where the selection from Day 4 will come.

In the Day Session we do have a battle between Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime, but there is just too much uncertainty around both players to be comfortable in making any selection.

At the time of writing, there still has to be some doubts that Auger-Aliassime will even take to the court having looked completely hobbled in the defeat to Jannik Sinner. He is giving himself as much time as possible to recover, but that makes a selection impossible to make with doubts all about the Canadian.

You could recommend his opponent to get the better of a less than 100% Felix Auger-Aliassime, but Ben Shelton has not been himself since pulling out of the US Open with an injury. That looked like being a season ender, but he has played some tennis without the same level of success since that moment and Shelton is another who may be thinking about Melbourne in January more than having a real belief of having a deep run here.

That is especially the case having lost the opening match against Alexander Zverev and the factors just add up to make it a 'no pick' contest.

You can read my thoughts on the second Singles match scheduled for the Night Session below.

Jannik Sinner - 4.5 games v Alexander Zverev: Right off the bat you have to feel this is a very big spread against a potentially very dangerous opponent, but the World Number 2 is going to have the mental advantage having crushed Alexander Zverev for the loss of a single game in the Paris Masters Semi Final a little over a week ago.

That is the most one-sided win in the recent rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev and the latter is always going to believe that his serve offers him a route into any game. He will certainly expect to have more success with that shot in this Group match at the ATP Finals, although the recent numbers in matches between Zverev and Sinner have suggested a big win for the latter was going to come sooner than later.

This is going to be the fourth meeting between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev in the 2025 season and all of the previous three have been on hard courts.

Jannik Sinner has faced just 4 Break Points in the previous three matches and all of those came in the sole match played between the two in the Vienna Final last month. Only one of those Break Points ended up with the point being won by Alexander Zverev, although that cost Jannik Sinner a set in that Final.

At the same time, Jannik Sinner has created 27 Break Points against the Alexander Zverev serve- he had been wasteful in the first two meetings in Melbourne and Vienna with four breaks of serve from 18 Break Point chances generated, but Jannik Sinner was ruthless in Paris and converted 6/9 in that Semi Final.

Over the course of the season, Jannik Sinner has been one of the top return players and his Break Point conversion rate is ranked in the top three. That made it a matter of time before all of the chances he has been creating against the Alexander Zverev serve would show up on the scoreboard and the Italian is likely to have too much for the World Number 3 in this Group match.

In the last twelve months, Alexander Zverev has had a hard lesson when it comes to competing with the top players on the Tour- in matches against top five Ranked opponents, his service numbers have really dipped, but the biggest worry for a player hoping to compete for a Grand Slam is that he has broken in around 8% of return games played.

This has put a huge amount of pressure on Zverev and Jannik Sinner is likely going to do the same in front of the home fans.

Alexander Zverev did beat Carlos Alcaraz in the Group Stage of the ATP Finals here twelve months ago, but had lost six straight matches to top five Ranked opponents before beating Ben Shelton on Sunday. He is going to have to find another level to compete with the defending Champion in this second Group match, although Alexander Zverev will likely remain in a pretty good spot to progress with a single match left to come against Felix Auger-Aliassime (or a replacement if the Canadian is still struggling with his injury).

If he serves at his very best level, Alexander Zverev may keep this close on the scoreboard and this spread will look way to wide.

However, the World Number 3 will have exorcise some mental demons after the embarrassing loss in the French capital just a few days ago and Jannik Sinner may just do enough to find the breaks needed to cover this spread.
