Tennis Picks May 11th (Madrid)

I wrote a couple of days ago that I could see a situation where players may consider pulling out of future tournaments held in Madrid with 'niggling injuries', especially if changes were not made to the surface they are using.

We have seen a number of players show their disdain for the blue clay during matches, but it was events AFTER matches that may see the end of this experiment sooner rather than later.

Both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic made it clear that they will not be coming back to this event in future unless they go back to the red clay. Djokovic's position is all the stronger as a defending Champion but also because he made his comments after WINNING unlike Nadal.

No tournament wants to lose their best players so I have virtually considered this experiment over.

Victoria Azarenka - 3.5 games v Na Li: Anyone who follows the Twitter account I have knows about my current laptop issues and the fact I am using an 100 year old desktop so I won't give in depth reasons for my pick.

Basically I think Azarenka is too strong and should be giving up more games despite playing a tough competitor.

Alexandr Dolgopolov + 4.5 games v Juan Martin Del Potro: Two previous close matches, Del Potro played a lot of tennis and Dolgopolov battle-hardened.

Tomas Berdych - 4 games v Fernando Verdasco: A lot of emotion for Verdasco in beating Nadal yet he wasn't comfortable on the court until the final few games. Berdych dangerous and Spaniard could be flat.

MY PICKS: Victoria Azarenka - 3.5 games @ 1.92 Bet365 (2 Units)
Alexandr Dolgopolov + 4.5 games @ 2.10 Pinnacle (2 Units)
Tomas Berdych - 4 games @ 1.95 Pinnacle (2 Units)

Weekly Update: 6-4, + 3.70 Units (20 Units Staked)
